A Subtle Dawn
Two hundred years have passed since the Scarab Reckoning. A terrifying event where Gods and Men warred for the fate of the world. Histories from before this time are rare and valuable but most speak of the same old things. Kingdoms rise and fall, swordsmanship and sorcerous skill, tales of heroism and betrayal. These tales were scattered and lost in the cataclysm. And so all folks fled from the surface, and allowed the world time to heal as they hid away from the terrifying struggles of divinity and destruction.
In time, folks began to retake the land, but it was not as it once was. Scalykind kingdoms thrive in the south while the Giantkind have laid claim to the old northern empires. In the east the machine men build impossible cities and in the west the scattered remnants of the old civilization worked to retake their homeland from that which had grown in their absence.
Empires rose and fell in great succession and wars were fought, some holy, some civil. Once the ashes had cleared a generation grew up to mend the wounds of the world. When the reclaimers had done their part their children have found themselves with a world that is rested and ripened. Who knows what the future holds in store?
